If you are looking into a Mosquito control program, the first thing you should do is assess your property to see if any conditions are contributing to the population and the problem. The primary breeding condition a mosquito employs is standing water. These can be different types of water. Female mosquitoes lay their larvae on the surface of the water, where they float above and are half-submerged. The most common types of water these larvae are found in permanent water, flood water, and water found in containers- Such as tires, buckets, bird baths, kid pools, tree holes, clogged gutters, and more.

Mosquitoes are small, flying bugs that are about one-eighth of an inch in size. They are so light that you can hardly see or feel them. They drink nectar and sugar from plants with a long, thin tube in their mouth. Only female mosquitoes bite people and animals to get blood. The proteins
in the blood help them make eggs that will hatch. People who eat a lot of sugar will feel the bites more than people who don’t eat any sugar at all. Do mosquitoes pose a danger? Yes, they can! In the U.S. we might not worry about them too much, but they can carry diseases and hurt our furry friends. It’s important to be aware of this!
Mosquitoes like it warm and damp near water. That’s where they lay their eggs. Even small puddles can have mosquitoes. To stop them, we spray an anti-mosquito fogger. It kills the bugs and their nests, so the eggs can’t hatch. But that’s not all! We also do other things to make sure they don’t come back. We can’t promise there won’t ever be any more mosquitoes, but you should see a big difference in the number of them on your property soon after we do our first treatment.

Mosquitoes can spread certain sicknesses. They get them by biting someone who already has the sickness. If they get a virus, it can take a few weeks for it to make copies and go to their spit. If the virus is in their spit and they bite a new person or animal, the virus can pass to them.
Different types of mosquitoes can only have certain types of viruses.
● West Nile virus
● Triple E
● Malaria
● Yellow fever
● Zika virus
Anopheles mosquitoes are called malaria mosquitoes, and they can be found all over the U.S. It has been a long time since someone in the U.S. has gotten malaria from a mosquito, but these bugs are still linked to it. They are dark in color and can be identified by how they drink blood. The female stands at a 45-degree angle, which is different from other mosquitoes that stay flat on the skin. After the female mosquito feeds, she will lay eggs in shallow, still water. The eggs will hatch in 2 days to 2 weeks.
Two kinds of Aedes mosquitoes can be found in the US. Aedes aegypti usually only bite people, and Aedes albopictus bite people and animals. The Aedes aegypti are more likely to have germs that cause viruses like Zika, dengue, and chikungunya. These mosquitoes usually live in warm, humid areas. They have black and white stripes and lay eggs in still water. They like to bite people around their feet and legs, and they sometimes come into homes looking for cool places to rest.
Culex mosquitos come in many colors, like gray or white, and can be sparkly with blue, green, and silver. They are tiny and can be hard to spot. Usually, they like to get their food from birds, but if there are no birds around, they will bite people. At dawn and dusk, Culex mosquitoes come out to look for places with still water. They will lay their eggs on the surface of this water. The eggs will join together to form rafts. These rafts can be seen floating on the surface.
Mosquitoes are usually found around areas with standing water. This could be a lake, pond, marsh, or even a kiddy pool or bird bath. When people or animals are around, mosquitoes come too. They can smell the carbon dioxide from the people and animals. They also use body heat and sweat to find food.
Your blood type can tell us what type of mosquito bites you. Blood types are determined by the proteins in your blood. Mosquitoes can sense these proteins and fly towards people with certain blood types more than others. Different species of mosquitoes like different blood types,
so depending on where you live, you may be more likely to get bitten by certain kinds of mosquitoes.
A mosquito will pierce your skin with its long mouthpart (called the proboscis). It will suck your blood, and at the same time, it puts its saliva on your skin. The saliva helps it so you don’t feel it biting you. Your body reads the saliva in the mosquito bite as something bad. Your body will alert you by making it itchy, and a red bump will appear. Some people may have a worse reaction to a bite than others, including kids, people with weak immune systems, and people who have not been bitten by a mosquito before.
Caring for mosquito bites is easy. First, clean the spot with water. Then, put an ice pack on it to make the swelling and itching go away. If the itching still doesn’t stop, put a mix of baking soda and water paste on the spot and leave it there for 10 minutes. Aloe vera is something else that can help stop the itch. If the itching is really bad, try using some over-the-counter antihistamine cream. Don’t scratch that mosquito bite, even though it's hard not to. If you do scratch, it could make the bite worse and lead to an infection.
You can use citronella candles at a party to keep mosquitoes away from your friends. You can also, grow certain plants in your yard that can help keep the mosquitoes away like lavender, catmint, marigold, or citronella grass.

“These folks are thorough; that is they definitely go the extra mile to complete the task at hand. My wife and I run a house of hospitality for the homeless and just like anyone who hosts travelers is subject to bedbugs so was our house. We have hired Wolverine Pest Services twice over the last couple of years (it was over a year apart so not the same bedbug episode) and both times they have been exceedingly complete when applying the liquid and aerosol. They were also easy to reach on the phone and very friendly to interact with.”
